East-West Shrine Bowl 2010
by Ill Sir Stephen Roberts, P.P., Posted on January 30th, 2010

Saturday the 23rd January was the 85th EAST-WEST Shrine Bowl at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The weather was warm and sunny and the top university and college seniors were ready and excited to put on a good game for the spectators.

Before the game I caught up with a few of my counterparts from 2009. Ill, Sirs' Richard (Sphinx), Karl (Kora), Jim (Tunis) and their Ladies for a tailgating party in the parking lot.

The game was evenly matched from start to finish. Going into the 4th quarter the score was 6 to 3 for the East all scoring by field-goals. In the last 5 minutes of the game the West scored a touchdown and the score was 10 to 6 for the West. With 2 minutes to play the East marched the ball down the field and scored in the last seconds of the game for a final score of 13 to 10 East.

Congratulations is also in order to our 2 Canadians who played in the game Matt Morencie from Windsor Ont. and Jordon Sisco from Regina SK.

It was also great to see Larry Csonka, the famous running back of the Miami Dolphins, who played in the East-West Bowl when he was at the University of Syracuse.

Also kudos to BAHIA SHRINERS for making everyone fell welcome and part of that great Shrine family.
