When Ill. Sir Rory MacLennan first put me on the line in 2005, I had no idea what treasures lay in store for me. I have met wonderful people, visited many places and experienced the workings of other temples.
One thing I have come to realize, as I have traveled up the line, is that we have a real gem in the Shrine System that goes by the name of Karnak and the reason I say this is:
We have a wonderful, hardworking group of people that make up Karnak - this includes both Nobles and Ladies alike;
Most of us live in close proximity to our Shrine Centre making it easy to get together on a regular basis;
Our membership is steadily increasing;
We have an active Divan that meets on a regular basis to make decisions for the good of the Temple;
We have an active Cabiri that gets involved with all major fundraisers as well as membership;
We have a 5 year plan that has been evolving over the years with many temples following our example;
We have a good relationship with all the Concordant Bodies;
We are associated with one of the finest and the only Canadian hospital in the Shrine System;
We have a myriad of activities that happen throughout the year that benefit the units and Shrine Clubs, Karnak itself and our Canadian Hospital.
This list can go on and on and I hope, over the year, you will let me know how much Karnak means to you.
Please take the time in 2010 to:
CELEBRATE who you are and what you do as a member of the Shrine Masonic Family.
COMMUNICATE your passion for Shrinedom and Masonry to everyone you come in contact with.
This little gem of a Temple deserves to continue to grow and flourish. Let’s all work in harmony to see that it does.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve as your Potentate. I look forward to sharing this year with you.
